As elbows come are not customarily used in Muay Thai?
Before you flame me ... I know that they are used, and my Muay Thai, we learn to use elbows. But it seems in big bouts, they are not very common. Such is usually just a deadly strike unjustified?
It depends on where the period is large and what the rules are. Elbows are not customarily used or allowed in most western Muay Thai rules simply due to the fact that is very harmful for a weapon. In Thailand, however, is that everything is permitted ... is allowed. Elbow is a very dangerous and bad short range weapon and you should be within a foot of your opponent in range end in order to reduce it. Elbows can be used to defensively to block out and injured a opponent punches and kicks. Everything is cut and hits will bruise and break. Thai fighters usually have an unspoken understanding that if you do not use it, I would not either. Of course, this is not far from the truth based on all countless games that you see in Thailand where elbows and ultra-bloody fights are not uncommon. Knockouts elbow in Thailand also result with judges and fighters could get a higher bonus at the end.
